The Blanchflower Bolt
The Bolt is the first model from Blanchflower guitars which are made by myself (Marcus) at home in my workshop. I take hand selected timbers and marry them together to make beautiful, tonally vibrant instruments. The workshop environment is primarily me using both tools that I've grown familiar with over my years working as a carpenter and newer wood manipulating devices that I've picked up along the way to craft these instruments.
An early prototype
I also take advantage of a CNC machine (called Dave) that sits in the corner of the workshop. Dave does the early, basic but very necessary initial cuts. Ensuring consistency and a repetition of my design. This also frees me up to get on with other stages of the builds, where I want to be in control of what's going on in a much more hands on manner.
After some thought the model with be called the BOLT, due to the 12th fret bolt inlay and it being a bolt on neck. comes in three guises.
Models...
The original interpretation of the idea I've had for the last couple of years. Solid body, with the elongated arm carve.
With the obvious thinline telltales - chambered bodies with an alternative soundhole.
Due to it being 40mm thick rather than 45mm...also easily recognised by the alternative carve that shadows the original carve found on the classic. (These slim models will in future use the same short Tele bridge and brass string ferrules as standard).
All guitars come with...
- Selected timbers from Feelgoodwood based in Suffolk.
- Bare knuckle and Green pickups Wilkinson short tele bridges.
- Hipshot open gear staggered tuners.
- Grainger string block.
- CTS / Switchcraft / Truetone / Groundbugs guts courtesy of home of tone.
- Gigbag
- T-shirt
- Rotosound strings.
